Joe Lowrance is a clinical psychologist, coach and educator, with a personal mindfulness practice of over fifteen years. In addition to his coaching practice, Joe leads workshops and educational trainings in mindfulness, financial wellness, financial psychology, and personal and professional development.
“I created Mindfulness-Based Financial Wellness largely in response to experiences in my own financial life and from efforts to explore and learn how to be wiser and more effective with money.”
“I know first-hand what it’s like to struggle, stress and be confused about money. Like many people I’ve had to renew my relationship with money, learn to practice better financial self-care, and understand how money and personal finance truly fits into being well and finding happiness.”
“The skillful pairing of mindfulness and the dimensions of financial wellness continue to be central to my own life, a necessary aspect of my personal development and a pragmatic and practical approach to the challenges and requirements of my personal finance process and broader financial life. Mindfulness-Based Financial Wellness has been fundamental to my ongoing journey, freeing and empowering me to live with greater heart, wisdom, ease. And as always, it happens one moment at a time.”
Beyond his undergraduate degree in economics and graduate degree in psychology, Joe trained in the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program at the University of Massachusetts Medical School Center for Mindfulness. He has written numerous papers on financial psychology and mindfulness; is an editorial board member of the Journal of Financial Therapy; and is a member of the American Psychological Association, Georgia Psychological Association, Financial Therapy Association, Financial Planners Association, and the Georgia Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy.
